PORTRAIT OF A NOBLEWOMAN AND HER PAGE, LATE 17TH CENTURY, FRENCH SCHOOL
Portrait of a noblewoman in the manner of Hyacinthe Rigaud, seated on an architectural element. Dressed in red, white and blue with a delicately painted lace shirt and a richly embroidered cloak, a single bejewelled brooch is pinned to her breast with a large pearl hanging from it. Her page stands to one side holding up a basket of flowers.
Oil on canvas in a 19th century giltwood frame. France c. 1690. Repairs to the top right of the painting. The canvas has not been relined.
