EARLY 18TH CENTURY BRUSSELS VERDURE TAPESTRY
Depicting a thickly wooded landscape with a river flowing from a castle in the distance to the foreground.
On the banks of the river grow long reeds, whilst ducks and ducklings swim in the centre.
A hoopoe bird sits on an overhanging branch.
The whole framed by a rich floral border decorated with roses, tulips and many other varieties.
The tapestry is finely woven in wool and silk and is fully backed in linen.
Brussels, first quarter of the 18th century.
