Decorated in gold against a black ground with scenes on all sides imitating 17th century lacquer, depicting birds, figures and gardens in the Japanese style. The fall front enclosing a fitted interior with four variously sized drawers, eight pigeon holes with a central cupboard, two secret drawers and a sliding well. Green leather writing top with gold tooled edge.
Two short and two long drawers, painted red internally. The whole raised on four bracket feet.
Old repairs, visible in the photograph. Restored cracks on the fall and sides. Likely an old bitumen farnish used producing crackle on the top and fall.
